چکیده

The superconducting proximity effect is measured in sandwiches of thin Pb films and the alkali metals Cs, Rb, K and Na. The Tc-dependence provides information about the interface barriers between Pb and the alkalis. Such a barrier is particularly large in Pb/Cs sandwiches. It is not due to impurities or oxydation. In the presence of a sufficiently strong barrier a special form of the Cooper limit can be applied to calculate the transition temperature of the sandwich. Possibility of reflectionless tunneling crossed transport at normal metal / superconductor double interfaces

– We investigate one dimensional models (the Blonder, Tinkham, Klapwijk model and a tight-binding model) of non local transport at normal metal / superconductor (NS) double interfaces. We find a negative elastic cotunneling crossed conductance, strongly enhanced by additional scatterers away from the interfaces, suggesting the possibility of reflectionless tunneling non local transport at doubl...

Evidence for attractive pair interaction in diffusive gold films deduced from studies of the superconducting proximity effect with aluminum

An experimental study of the proximity effect of superconductor-normal metal films with the help of lowtemperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy is reported. The behaviors of bilayers of the noble metals gold and silver in contact with the superconductor aluminum are compared for various thicknesses of the normal metal. Although the normal conducting properties of Au and Ag are very similar t...

Giant proximity effect in cuprate superconductors.

Using an advanced molecular beam epitaxy system, we have reproducibly synthesized atomically smooth films of high-temperature superconductors and uniform trilayer junctions with virtually perfect interfaces. We found that supercurrent runs through very thick barriers. We can rule out pinholes and microshorts; this "giant proximity effect" (GPE) is intrinsic. It defies the conventional explanati...

Metal-Enhanced Fluorescence from Nanoparticulate Zinc Films.

A detailed study of metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) from fluorophores in the blue-to- red spectral region placed in close proximity to thermally evaporated zinc nanostructured films is reported. The zinc nanostructured films were deposited onto glass microscope slides as individual particles and were 1-10 nm in height and 20-100 nm in width, as characterized by Atomic Force Microscopy. The su...

Scanning tunnelling spectroscopy of superconductivity on surfaces of LiTi2O4(111) thin films

Unique superconductivity at surfaces/interfaces, as exemplified by LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfaces, and the high transition temperature in ultrathin FeSe films, have triggered intense debates on how superconductivity is affected in atomic and electronic reconstructions. The surface of superconducting cubic spinel oxide LiTi2O4 is another interesting system because its inherent surface electronic and a...
